WINTER IN VAUJANY
Nestled at the foot of the Massif des Grandes Rousses, Vaujany is the gateway to the Alpe d'Huez ski resort and its surrounding villages. Together, they form the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine which offer 248 kilometers of meticulously groomed pistes, ensuring an exhilarating skiing experience for all levels.
From the summit of Pic Blanc, skiers can embark on the Sarenne, Europe's longest black run. With its high altitude and 900 snow cannons, the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine guarantees snow-sure conditions throughout the season.
Across Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine there are a total of 84 lifts serving, 42 green runs, 37 blue runs, 39 red runs and 17 black runs.
THE LIFT SYSTEM
Vaujany has three ski lifts, including an 160-person cable car located just a short walk from our chalets. This modern lift swiftly transports skiers to an elevation of 2,800 meters, granting access to the expansive area of Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine in under 10 minutes.
LIFT PASSES
Two lift pass options are available; the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski pass which give you full access to the Alpe d'Huez ski area, ideal for confident skiers. Includes two-day access to Les Deux Alpes.
Or the Oz / Vaujany pass which covers one-third of the Alpe d'Huez ski area, including Montfrais, Oz en Oisans, and some of Alpe d'Huez. This is recommended for beginners with the option to upgrade later.
SKI LESSONS
Vaujany is a great place to learn to ski, with group lessons and private lessons and guides.
ESF Vaujany and ESF Oz-en-Oisans now offer Handiski and have a dualski which allows adults and children with reduced mobility to learn to ski.
For beginners, ski school meets at the ski station in the centre of the resort, armed with the reassurance of a teacher to help you with your first ski lift, you have quick access to the quiet Montfrais area which has plenty of green and blue runs to learn your first moves.
Thrill-seeking skiers can tackle challenging red and black runs, including the iconic Sarenne, Europe's longest black run, and the legendary Tunnel run. For those wanting to explore off the beaten track, ESF can arrange a guide to take you off-piste touring around Vaujany.
ESF SKI SCHOOL
The Ecole du Ski Francais (French Ski School) offers qualified English speaking ski instructors. We highly recommend you book lessons in advance to avoid disappointment.

SKI HIRE
We recommend Ludo and Ariane at Skiset Vaujany for ski hire during your stay, their shop is located at the foot of the slopes. No matter your ability, Skiset Vaujany cater to all levels of skiing and snowboarding and they will help you find the right model for you, meaning you can spend more time on the slopes.
DON'T SKI?
If you don’t ski, book an ESF's “Taxi-Ski” for a trip on the pistes of Vaujany or try snowshoeing, an increasingly popular way to discover the mountains. Want to try something different? Try telemarking, a technique which combines alpine and nordic skiing.
