Cycling &

Mountain Biking

With the Tour de France passing through the area every year, discover some of the most iconic cycle routes from the 21 Alpe d'Huez hairpins to the Col de la Croix de Fer and Col du Glandon.

More than 250km of trails there's something for every mountain bike enthusiast. With a practice area, Enduro trails and trial zones.

Watersports

On the Lac du Verney, just down the mountain from Vaujany (10 minutes by car), you can hire kayaks, canoes and pedallos. Life jackets are included. 

For the more adventurous, you can also go white water rafting.

Swimming

Take the cable car up to Montfrais and have a picnic by the lake. Pick wild blueberries and brave the fresh mountain water. Swimming is a perfect family outing and a great way to cool off.

 

Alternatively there are 3 outdoor pools in Allemond for all ages.

Horse Riding

A gentle means of transport, in harmony with nature which gives access to wild spaces and time to bond with animals.

 

There are several local organisations offering everything from pony rides to long hacks in the mountains.

Walking & Hiking

With 950 km of paths, covering easier family routes to more challenging climbs with peaks, lakes and glaciers, there is no shortage or trails to follow directly from Vaujany.

 

The tourist office has hiking maps and guides are available in both winter and summer.

Via Ferrata

Dare to be adventurous.  With ladders, rungs, footbridges and monkey bridges, there are 7 Via Ferrata (2 in Vaujany) and 8 climbing crags in the area. You can hire equipment from Ride for Life (2 minutes from our chalets) and a guide through Guide d'Oisans.

Climbing

Vaujany has a small climbing wall built into the rock face near the lift station. It is accessible all year round and is great for learning and practicing techniques. 

There are 2 more outdoor climbing walls, in Allemond and Alpe d'Huez.

Accrobranche

In the heart of a spruce forest, Accrobranche is a treetop adventure park in nearby Oz.

It is open 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm, in July and August, and has levels suitable from ages 3 to adult. It has some pretty awesome zip wires too.
